Mucros Weavers – Irish craft with a very special history

There are products that are beautiful at first glance – and then there are products that become even more beautiful when you learn the story behind them. Mucros Weavers from Killarney in Ireland is one such brand.

Mucros Weavers operates from the stately Muckross House, in the heart of Killarney National Park in County Kerry. Here, the weaving mill is surrounded by lakes, mountains, forests, and waterfalls – a dramatic and ever-changing landscape that has become a vital source of inspiration for the brand's colors and patterns.

A Craft That Takes Time

The scarves are woven individually on traditional Hattersley looms that are almost 200 years old. The meticulous weaving gives each scarf a selvedge on both sides, creating a beautiful finish and helping the scarf maintain its shape and be used for many years.

Behind the design is master weaver John Cahill, who started as a weaving apprentice at Muckross back in 1976. His long experience and sense of color are clearly evident in the collections, where soft natural tones are mixed with rich shades inspired by the Irish landscape and its shifting skies.

For the scarves, carefully selected high-quality yarns are used, including wool, mohair, and alpaca. The result is accessories that both provide warmth and add color, texture, and personality to autumn and winter outfits.

Irish Tradition in a Modern Interpretation

Mucros Weavers combines its traditional weaving craft with a modern and wearable design. In addition to the colorful scarves, the brand also creates tweed hats and caps for both women and men. The models range from classic Irish forms to more contemporary expressions, making them easy to wear with both a casual jacket and an elegant coat.

It is precisely the meeting of tradition and modernity that makes Mucros Weavers so special. The products feel genuinely Irish without being old-fashioned – timeless accessories with character, created to be used and appreciated for a long time.

From a small operation at Muckross House, Mucros Weavers has grown and is now available at over a hundred selected retailers in countries such as the USA, Canada, France, Germany, and Japan. Despite its international success, the craft, nature, and location in Killarney remain at the heart of every collection.
